Yesterday the foundation stone was laid for the new expansion of BioVille, designed by D BV Architects and to be realized by contractor Edibo. The funds were raised by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the Limburg investment company LRM, the province of Limburg, and UHasselt. The three-story building should be completed by the summer of 2023. BioVille is owned by LRM, Limburg, and UHasselt.

BioVille was created in 2010 to become an incubator for start-ups and growing companies active in the life sciences. The facilities were opened to support Limburg’s ambition to make life sciences one of the key sectors in the region. The incubator is part of the Health Campus of the Diepenbeek University campus. It has already attracted many healthcare companies, which have provided more than two hundred highly skilled jobs in the area. Anima Research Center, which played a major role in coronavirus research, was among the first to arrive.

Meanwhile, the American global player in clinical studies Amador Bioscience also announced its arrival, as did the pharmaceutical player Clinitude and the biomedical company Rejuvenate. The latest addition is the Chinese-American biotech company ZhenGe.

BioVille has already supported the growth of more than seventy organizations with a range of services and infrastructure. Today the facilities house over thirty companies, with more than 150 employees.
