Amador Bioscience and BIOMED Finalize Collaboration
Amador Bioscience and BIOMED announce collaboration to support clinical studies with omics-based biomarker discovery capabilities.

Pleasanton, Calif.: Amador Bioscience, a clinical CRO with world-class clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics expertise, today announced a new collaboration with Hasselt University’s Biomedical Research Institute (BIOMED), a multidisciplinary institute that uses high-end technology to deliver novel insights in three main disease areas: immunology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular disease. This is the first step toward Amador’s goal of opening a clinical laboratory in Europe.
“BIOMED showcases academic excellence in the health sector and life science industry,” said Xiaomin Chen, chief operations officer at Amador. “Our recent visit to their well-equipped laboratories and the conversations had with their scientists confirmed our confidence in the collaboration.”
“We are looking forward to expanding our network with this strategic partnership with Amador,” said Professor Niels Hellings, Director at BIOMED. “The new collaboration creates new opportunities for our innovative biomedical research and development, but also opens possibilities for our life sciences students and professionals in the region,” added Piet Stinissen, Honorary Dean at BIOMED.
The companies will begin setting up a multiomic infrastructure for Amador in Belgium. As part of this relationship, Amador will gain access to BIOMED’s extensive omics platform technologies and experts and together they will work on mutual-interest research and development projects. The companies are aiming to begin their first joint R&D project as early as Q1 2023.
“We will build omics-based biomarker discovery capability at Amador Belgium to support clinical studies, ” said Meina Liang, chief technology officer and president of bioanalysis and biomarkers at Amador. “We will search for talents with omics skills and biomarker expertise, who will complement the skillsets of our global teams.”
Amador has facilities in the US, Belgium, and China. It is celebrating the grand opening of its Germantown, Maryland GxP lab later this month, and its Pleasanton, California lab later this year.
